The harbourside area of Paphos has recently been refurbished and is mainly pedestrianised in the busy summer months so you can enjoy leisurely strolls along the sea front stopping at the many different bars and restaurants. There are many boat trips available from the harbour both pleasure trips and fishing trips, along with private boats moored up on the jetties. There are two large boats moored in the harbour which are used as Wedding Venues so you can sit alongside the harbour and watch wedding parties arrive and depart whilst sipping an ice cold frappe or maybe an alcohol beverage or two! The Town is split into two parts you have the lower town locally known as Kato Paphos where you will find the harbour, numerous restaurants and the busy bar and club area which attracts a great deal of people in the peak summer months known as Bar Street. There are plenty of Hotels in Paphos offering a wide range of accommodation from apartments through to five star luxury hotels. Paphos also has its own themed water park and go karting centre for those who are looking to use up some energy plus a Bowling Centre. Upper Paphos is where you will find the main shopping areas including all the well known High Street names like Marks & Spencer, Mothercare and supermarkets including Carrefour. This area too is home to the local government offices, library and holds a market every weekday morning where you can buy locally grown fruit & veg, or venture indoors to the traditional tourist stalls where you can pickup gifts etc. Archaeological sites include the Tomb of the Kings which can be found on the main road leading out of Paphos in the direction of Coral Bay. Coral Bay is a small resort in its own right and has a variety of restaurants and bars along with a beautiful cove which is accessed via a few steps and slope from the car park which is free to use. Water sports are available from the Bay including Para gliding, banana boat rides, pedalos etc., plus there is a bar on the beach from which you can relax under the shade and have lunch or refreshments. Coral Bay is about a fifteen minute drive from the centre of Paphos and local buses are available on a regular basis.
This Byzantine Fort can be found near the Harbour which also has an Amphitheatre adjoined at which you can enjoy open air concerts.
